The framing sequence is destroyed by the end of the book, leaving me wondering how Ryan is going to continue the series, but nevertheless it makes for a fascinating read in this book. The book is written in much the same way that Patrick Rothfuss is writing his ‘Kingkiller Chronicles’, setting the story within a framing sequence in which the main character relates his story to another. In this end of year doldrums, I’ve been forced back to my shelves of ‘books I should read one day’ and, as with The Red Knight, I’m absolutely stoked that I picked up Blood Song. In the same vein as Miles Cameron’s ‘The Red Knight’, ‘Blood Song’ by Anthony Ryan was a book that had sat on my shelf for a while, forlornly hoping I would pick it up and give it a shot. ![]() ![]() ![]() A week after the release of the first chapter, she announced on her blog that she is illustrating Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children's graphic novel. ![]() ![]() I love this graphic novel!Ĭassandra Jean started working on the book publicly at the release of its first chapter on the March 2013 issue of Yen Press. Gladwell demonstrates that it’s not simply a matter of talent and hard work, but that a number of external factors (such as birth order, cultural heritage, and luck) play a role as well. ![]() Outliers is one of the Best Malcolm Gladwell books because it challenges the conventional thinking about what leads to success. He also discusses different factors that affect how contagious an idea or behavior is. Gladwell refers to the point at which a trend reaches the critical mass needed for it to become popular as the tipping point. One of the key themes in the book is that ideas, trends, and behaviors can spread like viruses. ![]() The book is well-written and easy to read, and it provides interesting insights into human behavior. With a new Preface drawn from the writings of Eknath Easwaran If humanity is to progress, Gandhi is inescapable. The pieces collected here, with explanatory head notes by Gandhi biographer Louis Fischer, offer the clearest, most thorough portrait of one of the greatest spiritual leaders the world has known. Following the scandal of the abdication, when her uncle, the Duke of Windsor, renounced the throne to marry the twice-divorced, hatchet-faced Baltimorean go-getter Wallis Simpson, the royal family, quietly dominated by the fey-slash-steely Queen Elizabeth (later Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother), were acutely conscious of projecting an image of propriety and conventional family life.
